Too Hot to Handle

TACC-Texans Against Civil Commitment: Moosejaw72; July 19, 2022

This week 108 degrees.

And 103 degrees.

And 98 degrees, 96 degrees, 100, 101, 100.

Now imagine no air conditioning. No way to cool down. No fans. No windows to open or doors to prop open for natural air flow. Imagine now that you have absolutely no way to control whether or not anything helped with the heat.

Now imagine being in a building with no air conditioning and having medical problems. Having disabilities. Being elderly. Imagine now that you have absolutely no way to control whether or not anything helped with the heat.

Imagine thinking you are in a treatment facility where you are to receive quality care and overcome mental health issues (or mental abnormalities, as the State would have you believe) only to be placed in the “hot box” like prisoners in a third world country.

Imagine being subjected to thermal violence because the facility doesn’t have the staff on site to repair problems and no one is called in to repair said problems. And no one seems to care about whether men in “treatment” have livable 1st world conditions…

Don’t imagine it!! It is happening at the TCCC right now. The air conditioning is not working in several buildings. D1 has no AC. Fans are not being brought in to relieve some of the heat or at least move air around.
